My Mom calls them bamboo trees, but they are actualy a type of grass. I thought I would post these so she can see bamboo. As a land locked Montanan she doesn't get to see the tropical folage.
In Japanese bamboo is called take (ta-kay').

Here's a size comparison. This way you can see how tall the bamboo stalk gets.
Where as green bamboo is living when bamboo turns yellow it's dry and dead, but it still looks beautiful in my opinion. And yes, bamboo grow leaves, but I didn't want to confuse my poor mother ealry on (they're still a grass). So here is a photo of the bamboo blowing in the wind.
